We love cross-genre work and anything that might be considered weird, and we are currently looking for short fiction (4,000-10,000 words, open theme / genre) for a digital project, short fiction (3,500-7,500 words) for themed anthology projects, and novels (stand alone or series)."

New West Writers Group -- How do writers improve their work?

3 hr session in the Boardroom

The answer to the question is many seek constructive feedback from their peers. New West Writers offers an opportunity to hear members talk on the value of joining a writing community, and to observe a critique session.

In addition to the Blue and Red Pencils, this is a chance to get feedback on your writing.

Bring along your own work or simply listen. But most of all, you will get a chance to discover if a writing group will work for you?

New West Writers - Who we are

New West Writers are a group of emerging and established writers, poets, and authors.

We meet on the third Saturday of most months and critique each other's work. Members of our group are experienced in providing constructive feedback.

We would like to invite all aspiring authors to attend our critiquing session and allow us to provide feedback on your work. All types of writing are welcome - poetry, essays, novels, non-fiction, and children's stories. Please limit your piece to 800 words.

New West Writers - Critiquing Session

The critiquing session will work in this way. The whole session will last for three hours, but will be split into three separate 1-hour sessions.

New West Writers will provide a maximum of three critiques per 1-hour session. This means that only 3 guests will be able to book for a critique per session. No guest may book for more than one of the 1-hour sessions.

At each of the 1-hour sessions, three New West Writers will provide verbal feedback. The other guests would also be invited to provide a verbal critique. Other New West Writers at each session may also provide written feedback.

Guests should bring between 5 - 7 copies of the piece they want critiquing.

Space is limited, so there is a sign up for this session. You must have a 2018 Membership to sign up Sign up is now available! IF spots are still open at the festival, you can sign up then.

New West Writers hold a critique session on the third Saturday of the month from 10:30 am in the Gallery at Queens Park. All writing is welcome - poetry, novels, short stories, creative non-fiction and children's stories.
